Storms bring precious offerings from the Andaman Sea

Recent storms buffeting the coastline of the Andaman Sea have swept in precious gifts from the ocean such as tower shells or snails, which can be either eaten or sold boosting people’s income.

Phang Nga residents have been advised to only pick adult snails to preserve the ecosystem of the sea.
Anuwat Waiwong, a local resident, said tower shells can be sold at between Bt25 and Bt30 per kilogram and vendors can make as much as Bt1,000 a day.
Tower shells are a mainstay in most eateries in the South as they are delicious and fun to eat.
