Bangkok’s old Chom Thong district promoted as new destination
In line with the Transport Ministry’s policy to provide opportunities to communities as well as to develop train services, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has built a train depot as well as resting area for passengers to boost tourism in the area. Trains will be dropping passengers off at Chom Thong from September onwards.
“Chom Thong is an old community in the Thonburi area and is surrounded by beautiful temples that have historical value, such as the Wat Ratcha Orasaram Ratchaworawiharn, which was built in the early Rattanakosin period, and Wat Nang Ratchaworawihan dating back to the Ayutthaya period,” SRT governor Niruj Maneepun said.
