The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation established World Milk Day 20 years ago to promote the benefits of consuming milk and other dairy products. Thailand consumes more than 1 billion litres of milk annually and boasts one of Southeast Asia’s largest dairy industries.
This year’s global campaign is called simply “Enjoy Dairy”, while the slogan of Thailand’s World Milk Day is “Strengthen immunity by drinking milk every day at every meal”.
“As we have to prioritise social distancing due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we will organise activities via online media,” Prayut said.
The prime minister said Thais of all ages can join four activities for World Milk Day:
1. Challenge activity: Online challenges involving drinking different kinds of milk.
2. Sharing activity: Netizens sharing their photos with dairy products from Thai farmers.
3. Learning activity: Online courses to make various dishes from dairy products.
4. Shop activity: Promotions to buy dairy products at special prices.
