The Embassy of Switzerland in Thailand posted on its Facebook page on April 24 that the Thai flag was projected on The Matterhorn on the night of April 23 to give moral support to the Thai government and people in the fight against Covid-19. The Matterhorn overlooks the Swiss town of Zermatt.
“The light projection of flags is a symbol of hope that we will overcome this together, as well as a sign of gratitude towards all medical staff who are at the forefront of the battle against Covid-19,” said the embassy.
Earlier the flags of the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, India and Japan had been projected.
The official website of this event, [https://www.zermatt.ch/en/hope], describes Thailand as, “The always friendly population of Thailand suffers from the coronavirus. Therefore, this year Songkran could not be carried out in the usual way. We send a sign of hope and strength and show solidarity with the people of Thailand.”
