Under new standards, air purifyer must also clean the air

In a move to deal with the country’s pollution problems, the Thai Industrial Standards Institute has come up with a new standard for air purifier – they need to also serve as PM2.5 filters.

The institute’s secretary-general Wanchai Panomchai said it will cover air purifier used in households, buildings or malls.
Under the new standard air purifier can be of no more than 250 volts and should be able to remove at least 70 per cent of the ultrafine PM2.5 dust particles from the air.
