None Sung district chief Anansak Wutthisingchai said on Thursday the man asked that he not be publicly identified.
After a brief ceremony expressing the communities’ gratitude, three pumps were installed at the pond to draw water via kilometre-long pipes to a more central, dried-up pond where it will be purified.
Anansak said drought had emptied the main pond that was the source of drinking water for the villages of Moo 10, Moo 11 and Moo 19 in tambon Than Prasart, home to some 600 residents.
He said the villagers appreciated the kindness of the donor, who didn’t want to end up as the “sole survivor” of the continuing drought.
