Driver hurt as van ploughs into Udomsuk Skytrain steps

Traffic was slowed on lower Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok Sunday morning when a public-transport van smashed into the staircase of the Udomsuk Skytrain station at about 7am.

Driver Lompong Sornphrom, 48, who suffered the only injuries reported, was taken to hospital after allegedly telling police he’d dozed off behind the wheel.
Bang Na police deputy inspector Pol Captain Sunthorn Chuchuay and rescue workers found Lompong lucid and apparently not under the influence of alcohol or any other substances.
