The plaza will also be the scene for “cross-year” prayers for people to participate in on New Year’s Eve, before a morning alms-offering to 68 monks is held.
The statue, which was created after an instruction by His Majesty the late King Rama IX, is normally kept at City Hall.
It will be available for public viewing at the temporary shrine in the middle of the plaza until 3pm on New Year’s Day, before being returned to City Hall.
