Shan man arrested for smuggling Myanmar migrants

Police and soldiers at a checkpoint in Li district stopped a pickup truck driven by a man identified only as Aipan, 54, a Myanmar ethnic Shan.
The truck was carrying nine undocumented Myanmar people, also ethnic Shan – six women and three men.
Police said Aipan, who has been living in Chiang Mai, admitted renting the pickup there to ferry the migrant workers to Lampang, charging them Bt3,000 each.
