A man and a woman wearing crash helmets entered the Mae Tungkuay gold shop in Nong Chang district at dusk and hit the owner on the head with a crowbar, Pol Col Paisit Kaewcharas, commander of the Nong Chang police station, said.
The two grabbed 188 gold necklaces, in 75.8 gram and 30.3 gram weights, from shelves and fled in a white Toyota Vios, Paisit said.
He said footage from security cameras showed that the car went past Nong Chang Cooperative and made a right turn to Highway 333 to the Ban Rai district.
Paisait said security cameras footage showed the two robbers pretended to inquire about gold necklaces.
Local residents said that a stranger had tried to buy a crowbar from several shops during the weekend but the shops were closed, he said.
