Following the report of a fatal shooting at 8.30pm, police rushed to the one-storey house in Tambon Tha Yang to find the body of Prasert Taeng-on with five gunshot wounds to his chest, stomach, left hip, and both arms. Officers collected five spent cartridges from the scene.
Prasert's daughter-in-law Budsaba Noinarai, 31, said her husband Ratchata Taeng-on fought with Prasert after seeing his father arguing over money and family business with his mother Aree, 74, and allegedly beating her.
Ratchata shot his father with a 9mm pistol during the subsequent argument and fled, said Budsaba.
The incident took place after the family had finished hosting a wedding for Ratchata's elder sister in the morning and was returning tents and props.
