Rough seas with 2-3-metre waves will accompany rains in the lower Gulf, the Meteorological Department warned in its 11am broadcast on Monday. Small boats should keep ashore, it warned.
Tropical Storm Kaitak will move into the lower portion of the South China Sea from Friday to Sunday, said the department.
The storm is likely to lose strength while passing over Malaysia and the lower South of Thailand, triggering torrential downpours. The rain accumulation could cause flash flood in the lower South, the warning said.
