Nkosinathib Nhlapho, 31, came to the Nong Khai immigration office at 8.30am and asked immigration officers to transfer an entry visa stamp from his own passport to a new one, saying he had received a new passport and wanted to leave the Kingdom.
But police found that the two passports were not identical with 11 points of discrepancies.
Nhlapho claimed he had hired a friend to apply for a new passport for him, but when police checked with the South African Embassy, they learned that the passport might be fake as individuals must apply for their own travel documents.
Nhlapho was detained at an immigration office pending further legal action.
