Teacher seeks donations for monk who cares for strays

Sukanya Promhom, a teacher at Wat Maruekhathayawan School in Tambon Thep Mongkol in Ayutthaya’s Bang Sai district, said she felt sorry for Phra Rassamee Charuthammo, 42, who has been taking care of the dogs and cats at the temple all alone.
Sukanya said she has been teaching at the school in the temple compound and has been seeing the monk preparing food for the cats and dogs. She urged the public to lend a helping hand through donations to help the monk.
The monk said he has been spending Bt10,000 a month from his own account to buy food for the dogs and cats. He said the number of the animals under his care was not high three years ago but an increasing number of cats and dogs had been abandoned at the temple in recent years.
