A flood warning has been issued for residents and tourists along the Pai River in the popular tourist destination of Mae Hong Son. The warning was announced via the Pai Police Station in Mae Hong Son’s Pai district Sunday morning.

Water level in the Pai River are rising dangerously and starting to overflow the banks.
Homes and guest houses line the river.
Jurairat Janprommin, Ban Mae Yen village head, said the heavy downpours on Saturday night have resulted in a torrent of run-off water coming from upstream areas.
“Local people have now moved their belongings to higher grounds. If the situation worsens, they will evacuate,” she said.
Because this area has been flood-prone, local officials and people have previously practiced response plans to prepare for flood events.
Rescue workers in Pai say they are now on standby around the clock.
