Suspects re-enact deadly Bangkok assault

Two suspects in Saturday night’s fatal assault on Sajja Prasai, the 63-year-old driver of a rot ka por commuter truck, were on Wednesday led through a re-enactment of the crime in Bangkok’s Wang Thong Lang district.

Four suspects were arrested on Tuesday after a criminal court issued warrants based on CCTV surveillance recordings.
Arthit Sondonprai, 25, and Surachet Phojad, 29, face charges of simple assault, deadly assault and intrusion into a residence at night. Ampol Khlangthong, 32, and Narongchai Rakluan, 29, face charges of simple assault and night-time intrusion.
Police said Arthit and Surachet had confessed and agreed to re-enact the crime, but the other two suspects have maintained their innocence.
The re-enactment, covering seven different locations, took place early in the morning to avoid angry neighbours threatening the duo.
The suspects showed police a spot in the middle of Soi Chokchai 4 where they claimed to have argued with Sajja about his driving, another where Sajja supposedly backed his truck into their motorcycle as they were pursuing him, and the parking lot outside Sajja’s apartment where the alleged assault took place.
Two residents and a security guard who tried to intervene also suffered injuries. Sajja died at hospital from a head injury.
