Reserve Article 44 for the big issues: Democrat Nipit

Democrat Party deputy leader Nipit Intarasombat suggested on Monday that the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) should rely less on Article 44, but rather enforce it on major issues concerning reforms.

Article 44 is an absolute power given by the interim charter to NCPO head, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is also Prime Minister.
It has been extensively enforced against issues that normal laws can deal with, as observed by some political observers.
Nipit, a lawyer, said a number of issues upon which the article has been enforced could be dealt with by normal laws.
Article 44, he said, should be reserved for bigger issues connected to reforms.
