“We need to keep up with global trends. There have been changes such as the [US] presidential election. We need to stand firm on our ground, whether it be social or to do with the economy. Just don’t make too many demands. We will eventually settle things via talks [with foreign countries],” Prayut said at a press briefing.
Prayut yesterday presided over the three-day annual meeting with high-ranking diplomats at the Foreign Ministry to deliver policy guidelines and share ideas.
Deputy PM Wissanu Krea-ngam was present to explain Thailand’s approach to foreign policy once the new charter is promulgated. Deputy PM Somkid Jatusripitak was at hand to provide economic guidelines.
Busaya Mathelin, permanent secretary to the Foreign Ministry, said the meeting elaborated on how foreign strategy could help drive their national counterparts in a range of facets during this reform period.
Thailand 4.0, meanwhile, will forge technology, innovation and science as part of the plan to carry out the government’s objectives, she added.
