Earth Hour in Bangkok saves over 2,000MW

The Earth Hour activity in Bangkok last night helped save electricity by 2,020 megawatt, according to local media.

The Manager quoted an official at the Metropolitan Electricity Authority as revealing that approximately Bt8 million in electricity cost as well as 1,057 tonnes of carbon emission was saved when lights at major venues were turned off for one hour. 
The event took place at CentralWorld last night during 8.30pm-9.30pm. Bangkok was one of over 7,000 cities in 178 countries that joined the event. 
The event has been held in Bangkok for 9 consecutive years. Last year, 1,940MW was saved, cutting down electricity cost by Bt7.5 million and reducing CO2 emission by 1,127 tonnes.
