National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member Niran Pitakwatchara has asked the Tak governor to suspend any activity on plots of land whose rightful owners have been unfairly evicted. The residents have been moved to pave the way for the establishment of

“We have received complaints from the affected people,” Niran said. “We would like to Tak governor Somchai Hotyatanti to set up a committee to address this problem”.

The problem is related to the government plan to set up the Tak Special Economic Zone in Tak province.

The eviction affects 2,183 rais of land.
