Princess gives up her royal status

His Majesty the King has granted a request by HRH Princess Srirasm, the royal consort of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, to relinquish her royal status, it was announced yesterday.

Princess Srirasm had informed the Crown Prince in writing, seeking royal permission to relinquish her royal status, according to a statement in the Royal Gazette published in the early hours yesterday.
“His Majesty the King has granted permission to announce that Princess Srirasm, the wife of Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, has informed in a written document that she has resigned from her royal status,” the statement said.
The announcement, dated on Thursday, was countersigned by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
Srirasm, 43, was earlier known as Mom Srirasmi Mahidol na Ayudhya. In June 2005, His Majesty the King bestowed a royal title on her as Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasm.
She graduated from Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in management science. In 2007 she received a Master of Arts degree in Home Economics from Kasetsart University.
