Police interrogate suspects in murder of EMG reporter Soe Moe Tun
According to Police Col Thein Swe Myint of Monywa Myoma Police Station, an owner of a Karaoke and two staffs of a new Karaoke are being interrogated for the brutal murder of a Monywa based reporter who was working with the Eleven Media Group. Other owners of karaoke stations and owners of wood business are also being questioned about the murder case.
The body of Soe Moe Tun was found on December 13 at 12:20am near Union Road in Monywa, Sagaing Region.
A Special Investigation team was formed, involving Sagaing Region police force, Central Investigation Department and police forces of district and townships.
Police Col. Thein Swe Myint said: “We have got some doubtful evidence. Yesterday, we interrogated owners of KTV and a wood business, and two staff members of a new KTV which is currently under construction. We are watching the suspects currently. We are trying to arrest the main culprit and those who committed the murder.”
The special investigation team is systematically investigating the murder against Soe Moe Tun.
Soe Moe Tun wrote news about Letpataungdaung Copper Mining Project and other news happening in Monywa.
According to his colleagues and the residents of Monywa, the murder might be related to the case that he wrote news about the increases in illegal KTV businesses and logging in Monywa. The Chief Minister of Sagaing Region Government was sent a letter instructing to not permit any more KTV businesses in Monywa.
The funeral of Soe Moe Tun was held on December 14 in Myoma Cemetery.
