The message stated, "We apologise for any inconvenience. Daidomon Korean Grill at the Central Ubon branch hereby announces the closure of service, with the last day of operation being April 30, '24. We thank our customers for their continuous support. You can still enjoy our services at Future Park Rangsit: Zone Robinson, Floor B, as usual."
The closure of Daidomon’s Central Ubon branch leaves the Rangsit branch as the last one.
Daidomon is a grill-style restaurant founded in 1983, considered one of the first buffet grill-style restaurant restaurants in Thailand. It gained significant popularity for a while before being acquired by HotPot plc on September 6, 2011, to diversify its portfolio from solely focusing on sukiyaki and shabu-shabu.
Shortly after that, JCK Hospitality pcl, owned by the Taechaubol family, acquired the HotPot business in 2018 aiming to expand its foothold in the diverse restaurant market beyond buffets, shabu-shabu, and barbecue. After this, it said it witnessed the diversified portfolio of businesses within JCK, ranging from Japanese and Chinese to Italian cuisines.
However, looking at the performance of the JCK Group over the years, it has consistently faced losses. From 2014 to 2022, the cumulative losses amounted to more than 1.3 billion baht.
For the JCK Group, HotPot has been the core business, contributing more than 50% of the revenue to the group's structure annually. However, currently, HotPot has only four branches nationwide, with just one located in Bangkok.
