Gold price decreases

The gold price dropped by Bt50 per baht weight in morning trade (April 20), the Gold Traders Association reported.

As of 9.23am, the buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,600 per baht weight and selling price Bt25,800, while gold ornaments were priced at Bt25,135.28 and Bt26,300, respectively.
At Saturday’s close, a gold bar cost Bt25,650 per baht weight to buy and Bt25,850 to sell, while gold ornaments cost Bt25,180.76 and Bt26,350, respectively.
Gold Spot Index prices this morning moved around US$1,680 (Bt54,573) per ounce after the price decreased by $32.9 to $1,698.80 per ounce at Friday’s close.
The gold price dropped due to a mass sell-off after news reports that Covid-19 antiviral drug research was seeing progress, while the US government prepared to resume economic activities after the number of Covid-19 cases dropped in many states.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong gold price dropped by HK$190 to $15,480 (Bt64,877) per tael.
