New Channel 8 shows to heat up competition among digital stations

COMPETITION among digital TV is about to get more intense as Channel 8 unveils its plans for the second half of the year, which will attract viewers nationwide and bring its group-wide profits up to its new high, breaking all records in the company’s history.

New contents in all genres will be added, starting this July 3, with three Indian series which have won 13 accolades in India and are popular across Asia. The series will be on air throughout the week. 
Meanwhile, Bollywood blockbusters are lined up to bring fun and excitement every Saturday. Thai dramas will be featured every day of the week to indulge drama lovers, while new entertainment news programs will be added every afternoon from Mondays to Fridays. Its new programs will get an upgrade and extended to cater to news lovers’ needs. New boxing programs will hit the screen with live broadcast every Sunday night, with stunning light and sound on a world-class stage.
Surachai Chetchotisak, CEO of RS Plc, said that competition among digital TV in the second half of 2018 will be more intense, as it is the high season in advertising, and there will be a lot of spending on digital TV. Channel 8 still has the upper hand thanks to its stability and leadership. In the first half of the year, Channel 8 enjoyed significant increase in ratings, especially in prime time. To continue its success in the second half of the year, it will introduce magnetic contents throughout the day, starting on July 1, true to its concept “In-depth contents, intense flavors”. Channel 8 fans can enjoy quality contents throughout the day, and the new programmes will attract more viewers nationwide, taking it to a new high that breaks the company’s all-time record.
One of the magnetic contents is Indian series which Channel 8 has expertly chosen to indulge its fans. Three new Indian series will hit the screen throughout the week, including an epic story about Indian gods Vighnaharta Ganesha, a multimillion series which enjoys sky-high ratings in India, to be aired on Mondays to Thursdays at 19.05 and Fridays at 18.45. Isspyaar Ko Kya Namm Doon is a romantic drama which has won the heart of Indian viewers, with 13 prizes such as Best Actor and Best Actress for Sanaya Irani and Sanaya Irani, to be aired on Mondays to Fridays at 20.45. Prithvi Vallabh is an action series starring Indian heartthrob Ashish Sharma. 

Bollywood blockbusters 
For families, Bollywood blockbusters are lined up to bring fun and entertainment to movie lovers every Saturday at 20.15, starting on July 7 with Bahubali with the lifetime gross of 1.8 billion Indian rupees.
To maintain its fan base, new TV dramas will be added and on screen every day throughout the week at 18.20. In the second half of the year, dramas in various genres are lined up, with superstars and teams of professionals. All dramas are true to Channel 8’s signature, “In-depth contents, intense flavors”. Romantic action fantasy drama “Phayahkka” is the first of its kind for Channel 8, with amazing CG done by Thai talents with Hollywood experience. “Rak Chan Sawan Jad Hai”, starring “Nike” Nitidon Pomsuwan and “Kaew” Jarinya Sirimongkolsakul, is a fantasy comedy with big names in entertainment such as “Pai” Patid Pisitkul, “Bitoey” Suteewan Thaveesin, “Fluke” Jira Danbawornkiat, Krit Amornchailerk, “Big” Thongpoom Siripipat, Nawin, “May” Pitchanart Sakhakorn, and “Art” Phasut Banyaem. Other dramas are “Sin Lao Hong”, “Dong Phudee”, “Bussaba Puen Foon”, “Madjurat Holiday”, “Sab Krasue” and “Pom Rak Salab Hua Jai”.
To target female viewers who like variety shows, new program “Yam Khao Lao Sod” will be aired from Mondays to Fridays, with top entertainment icon Yingsak Jonglertjesdawong, who returns to Channel 8 once again, and “Yuan” Nitichai Yosamornsunthorn and “Mai” Sukonthawa Kherdnimit. For news programs, Channel 8 is the channel with the highest news programs, 11 hours per day, which is the highest among digital variety channels. The channel has the highest news ratings in morning prime time, and therefore has prepared more news programs for its fans.
 “Pak Thong Tong Ru” will be extended to 60 hours, with a concept “easy to listen to, easy to understand”, while “Joh Praden” is a hard talk news programme which is the talk of the town now.
Channel 8 is also known for boxing programs, with as many as 3 million viewers. New boxing program “8 Muay Thai Super Champ” will bring world-class boxers to excite its fans in the ultimate Muay Thai fights to win major prizes. It has also built a new boxing stadium on Phra Athit Road along the Chao Phraya River, and will invest more money to add excitement to the program, with stunning light and sound. Watch it live every Sunday at 20.15.
For marketing, in the second half of the year, Channel 8 has a major campaign “Channel 8 Full On Drama”, in collaboration with partners to indulge fans of its TV dramas. The activities under the campaign include: 1. Meet and greet activities with leading actors and actresses around Victory Monument, Lalaisap Market in Silom, Rangsit Market, and Thai Market. 2. Food and drink and merit making trip with actors and actresses. 
Big events will also travel throughout the country such as Channel 8 and Friends Year 2, inviting fans to enjoy games and win prizes in Bangkok and neighboring provinces, and Sup’Tar Talad Taek On Tour, which will travel to fresh markets nationwide.
