The company said this year’s 11.11 shopping event was a huge hit, with 4.5 times the volume of orders recorded during the same event last year, and about 7 million items sold. The event also saw more than 13 million live chats, which translates into an average of over 9,000 chats buzzing simultaneously every minute, as shoppers snapped up super-sized deals and discounts from over 120,000 brands and sellers across the region.
Shopee said that 92 per cent of transactions took place on mobile devices as shoppers fervently browsed deals on the go.
Sellers reported great spikes in their sales, with one enjoying an order volume of more than 6,500 times average. Within the first 10 minutes of the sale, total traffic surged by three times, with the first successful order transacted at midnight.

+ The top 3 categories were health and beauty, mobile and gadgets, and baby and toys.
+ The brands most favoured by Health and Beauty fans were Karmart Official, Lion Shop Online and Unilever Beauty Hot Pro.
+ JIB Official Shop, Eloop Thailand Official Store and SanDisk Online Store were the top three mobile and gadgets brands, while Babylove, Mamypoko and Enfagrow A+ emerged as the top brands in the baby and toys category.
+ Almost 5,000 pairs of socks were sold on the day.
+ More than 1,000 stainless steel vacuum insulated tumblers were sold.
+ The cheapest item bought was a pair of sunglasses at Bt0.25, while the most expensive item was a luxury bag at Bt49,900.
Shopee chief operating officer Terence Pang said: “We would like to thank everyone who played a part in making this event a huge success. We will have a fresh wave of massive discounts coming up on 12.12.”
