Huawei aims to digitally transform 10 economic sectors

HUAWEI Technologies (Thailand) has focused on promoting the full digital transformation of 10 economic sectors as part of its continued contribution to help move the nation into the Thailand 4.0 era.

Among the information and communications technology company’s targets are contributing to the full digital transformation of the smart city sector, smart energy, smart rail, smart airport, smart government, smart home, smart education, smart agriculture, smart irrigation, and even smart parking.
Huawei viewed that the 10 industries were ripe for development to meet the vision of the junta government’s Thailand 4.0 concept, said Qiang Hua, the new managing director.
Thailand 4.0 is the economic showpiece of the current government, a vision of digital leading-edge economic development. It is meant to overcome the middle-income trap that Thailand now finds itself in, and transform the Kingdom into an innovation-driven, high-income country. Qiang said that one key ensuring success for Huawei in Thailand was its openness to collaborate with all parties to create the digital ecosystem.
The emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and artificial intelligence are catalysts for the digitalisation of Thai society, and thus every industry has to realise that digital transformation is part of the future, he said.
Qiang said that Huawei was more than ready to contribute to Thailand 4.0. In June it opened to the company’s partners its OpenLab Bangkok, a US$15 million (Bt496 million) facility developing technological platforms, marketing platforms and training platforms. The lab is located in Huawei Thailand’s office on the 34th floor of G Tower Building, Rama 9 Road. The company will showcase some of the 10 technologies it is promoting at Digital Thailand Big Bang 2017 in Impact Muang Thong Thani exhibition centre from September 21 to 24.
