Cabinet approves proposed holding company for state-run enterprises

The bill, which will later be forwarded to the National Legislative Assembly for deliberation, is designed to improve efficiency and good governance in commercial state enterprises.
The state enterprises that will be under the proposed National State Enterprise Corporation are PTT, Thai Airways International, Airports of Thailand, TOT, CAT Telecom, Thailand Post, Dhanarak Asset Development, MCOT, Transport Co, Bangkok Dock Co and the Syndicate of Thai Hotels & Tourism Enterprises.
The National State Enterprise Corporation would be similar to Singapore’s Temasek Holdings.
Reform of the Kingdom’s state enterprises has been long delayed.
