Reporters attending SCG’s press conference last Wednesday on its quarterly operating results were treated to some refreshments as usual, even though the event has always been scheduled at two in the afternoon.
But for dessert there were fresh fruit juices and an army of medical personnel from Bumrungrad Hospital offering check-ups especially for the newshounds.
And instead of going straight to the financial figures, the firm started by playing a video showing CEO Kan Trakulhoon doing 20 push-ups. After which, the firm’s communications honcho Venus Asavasitthithavorn elaborated on SCG’s “The hiding fat organisation” initiatives, including its recent reality TV show on Thai PBS.
Fortunately, SCG’s financial results revealed afterward showed the firm remains in a healthy state, like its CEO who is due to retire early next year.

Investors were piqued by the decision of Fire Victor, which is preparing to list on the bourse for small companies, to use “FIRE” as its ticker symbol, as some superstitious players are wary of dealing with “FIRE”.
An unfazed Wirat Sukchai, managing director of the company, said the choice was deliberate, as it was considered a catchy name that could be easily recognised and remembered.
