The PYO conducted an extensive survey, assessing the battlefield conditions in the townships of Hsisai, Hopon, and Loilim between January 21 and February 24 this year.
According to the report, 40 civilians lost their lives, and 51 others sustained injuries due to the intense clashes between the joint forces of the Myanmar military and Pa-O National Army (PNA) and the allied forces of the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA) in southern Shan State.
These civilian casualties resulted from a combination of airstrikes, artillery attacks, drone strikes, and bombings.
During the height of the conflict, southern Shan State witnessed over 290 airstrikes and more than 800 artillery attacks. These attacks caused significant damage to approximately 100 civilian structures and 12 religious buildings, as documented by the PYO.
The report emphasizes that it is based on ground information and online sources accessible to the organization. However, the actual number of affected individuals may be even higher than reported.
In response to the escalating violence in Hsisai Township, the PNLA has issued a warning to residents, advising them to avoid entering the town, refrain from checking on their homes, and seek temporary refuge in safer areas away from the ongoing armed conflicts.
