Security camera footage captured a bright comet fragment illuminating the sky over Braga on Saturday night. The astronomical phenomenon was visible across various parts of Spain and Portugal.

On Sunday morning (May 19), the European Space Agency (ESA) shared a video on X, captured by its “fireball camera”, describing the sighting as a “stunning meteor” over Caceres, near the Portuguese border.

However, ESA later identified the object as a “small piece of a comet”, estimating it flew over Spain and Portugal at 45km per second before burning up over the Atlantic.
