All you need to join in the fun at Khlong Ong Ang tonight is a smartphone.
Participants in the Loy Krathong online activity will be able to watch their digital krathongs floating on the surface of Khlong Ong Ang near the Bophit-Phimuk Bridge by the projector.
Revellers can also engage in creative activities within the event, such as drawing on prepared paper, colouring, writing their names, expressing blessings, or inner thoughts, and then releasing them as illuminated lights into the canal. Additionally, the event offers street performances and nostalgic food experiences.
The fun kicks off tonight at 5 pm.
Sanon Wangsrangboon, deputy governor of Bangkok, explained that “Loy Krathong Digital” will only take place for a day and traditional celebrations will still be available. “But if you want to experience Loy Krathong without contributing to environmental pollution, this is the event for you,” he said.
