On the run in Bangkok

THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 2024

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is continuing with its mission to promote exercise as well as tourism in the capital and has already developed 12 trail routes with a combined distance of over 120 kilometres as part of the “Bangkok Trail” campaign.

The project involves developing footpaths and walkways that can double as running trails and connect key landmarks of the city, the BMA said.

These trails would allow city dwellers and visitors to explore the charm of Bangkok more conveniently, it added.

The 12 trail routes that have been improved for running and walking are scattered around urban and suburban neighbourhoods, namely in Phra Nakhon, Rama I, the banks of the Chao Phraya river, Charoen Krung, Sathorn, Ratchathewi, Kasetsart, Phahonyothin, Pradit Manutham, Chatuchak, Rama IX, and Theparak.

Running past important landmarks such as museums, temples, shopping malls and public parks, these trail routes feature improved footpaths, lampposts, public restrooms, parking areas, as well as designated space for street vendors.
