THURSDAY, APRIL 11, 2024

Parts of Ratchadamnoen Klang and Mahachai roads in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district will be closed to traffic on Thursday (April 11) from 4pm to 8pm to allow Bangkokians and visitors to celebrate the Songkran Festival, Samran Rat police announced on Wednesday.

The city will use these areas to hold the Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2024 from April 11-15, with the opening ceremony scheduled to take place on Thursday evening at Maha Chetsadabodin Pavilion Court on Ratchadamnoen Klang Road.

The affected sections start from Mahakan Fort to the Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, and from Samran Rat Intersection to Mahakan Fort on Mahachai Road, said the police.

These sections will form a long walking street for pedestrians to splash water on each other in a tradition that marks Thailand’s traditional new year.

Bangkok will also host Songkran activities at 118 venues across the city together with government and private partners. Check out the details and locations via this link: https://happining.city/songkran2024
