The incident took place late on Tuesday morning in front of Soi Ramkhamhaeng 203/1 on Sukhapibal 3 Road in Bangkok’s Minburi district, police said.
The electric bus reportedly slammed into the song taew on the left-hand side, causing severe damage. The impact of the crash pushed the 10 passengers song taew passengers on top of one another and injured several.
The passengers told police that the song taew driver had suddenly shifted lanes, blocking the bus’s way. This angered the bus driver, who then sped up and cut in front of the song taew in retaliation.
The two vehicles reportedly took turns overtaking each other before the bus crashed into the left of the song taew.
Police have booked both drivers for questioning before deciding whether charges should be pressed.
Song taews are modified pick-up trucks with two rows of seats in the back and are often used to transport passengers for small distances.
