Police said the serial accidents in Nonthaburi occurred around 3.10am.
Police said tyres on three sedans and two pickup trucks fell into the 50-centimetre-wide hole, causing them to burst.
When police arrived at the scene, the five vehicles were waiting.
Police took complaints the vehicle owners and will coordinate with the locali highway office to eventually pay compensation.
The vehicles were eventually towed for repair.
Chayada, the owner of one of the cars (who withheld her surname), said she didn’t see that the lid had been lifted out and so her car’s tyres fell in and burst.
