Victory for the "Vacation Club"

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 08, 2013

Anantara Vacation Club, a unique shared ownership property, has earned industry accolades for its first purpose-built Signature Club Resort, the Anantara Vacation Club on Phuket's Mai Khao.

Open since June, the stunning new resort just garnered “Best Shared Ownership” and “Highly Recommended: Best Architectural Design” from the Thailand Property Awards. Designed by the Stephen O’Dell of SODA, the resort’s layout and architecture are inspired by its unique location on the edge of the Sirinath National Park. The surrounding verdant foliage provides the serene backdrop for a contemporary Thai village that takes its cultural cues from the peaceful rural landscapes. Visit www.AnantaraVacationClub.com.

Three cheers for the suds
Munich and Bangkok might be about 9,000 kilometres apart, but beer keeps them spiritually closer. Swissotel Le Concorde Bangkok now celebrates Oktoberfest, world’s most famous beer festival, at its Fountain Cafe and Crossroads Bar. In addition to beer, the hotel is serving up plenty of Bavarian treats including German potato salad, home-made liver sausage, German onion and sour cream quiche, and herring with apple mustard sauce and black bread. Main courses include pork knuckle and smoked pork loin with sauerkraut. Prost!

The way to go
TripAdvisor, one of the world’s largest travel sites, launches its free, fully native app for iPhone and Android users that includes a number of new features. The “New City” pages, for example, ensure the travellers won’t miss the best things in any city. There’s also a dynamic map that populates accommodations, attractions or restaurants in real-time. The app is now available for download at the iTunes App Store or Google Play.
