Nissan has introduced its first bi-fuel pickup truck in Thailand with the launch of the Navara CNG (Compressed Natural Gas).

The bi-fuel installation is carried out under Nissan manufacturing standards and the truck comes with standard warranty, according to a release from distributor Nissan Motor Thailand (NMT).
The Navara CNG is powered by a petrol/CNG QR25DE engine capable of producing 154 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 242 Nm at 4,400 rpm.
“Engineered for advanced CNG operations, it includes technologies such as an advanced floating gas injection system to maximize the efficiency of gas consumption and an advanced electronic system to effectively control the injection of gas, minimising the noise created through gas injection,” said NMT president Takayuki Kimura.
The auto-maker also stated that the new Navara CNG will reduce running costs by two thirds compared to a conventional petrol engine. A 140-litre CNG fuel tank is located on the pickup bed, proven to have the highest tolerance from crash impact tests and severe weather conditions, providing both utility and safety to the heavy pick-up truck user.
“By adding this new CNG variant, we are providing customers with an even broader selection in one of the most competitive automobile segments in Thailand,” said Kimura. “We recognise the need for CNG models here and plan to further expand the line-up of alternative fuel vehicles to meet strong market demand for CNG.”
The Navara CNG ranges in price from Bt535,500 to Bt641,000.
