Pope Francis, battling double pneumonia, remains in a critical condition for a second day running and has shown an "initial, slight insufficiency" in his kidney function, the Vatican said on Sunday.

The Vatican said on Feb 22 that Pope Francis’ health had deteriorated over the past 24 hours and, for the first time, described his condition as “critical”, reporting that he had needed supplemental oxygen and blood transfusions.
