Similan and Surin islands emptied of tourists for 5-month rehab

National parks covering the Similan Islands and Surin Islands in Phang Nga province are shutting their doors for five months to allow the natural surroundings to recover.
The Public Health Ministry has come up with a guide for travellers planning to visit Thailand under the pilot reopening schemes like Phuket Sandbox, Samui Plus and Phuket Sandbox 7+7 Extension.
Strong winds and waves thwarted speed boats from picking up around 200 tourists from Princess Beach in Koh Miang of Similan Islands on Sunday (October 27).
