Comic Kotee shares his gal, result anything but funny

Despite having nothing but good intentions, comedian-TV host Jaroenporn "Kotee" Onlamai got the New Year off on the wrong foot when he posted pictures of his new girlfriend on Instagram.

The problem arose because the photos didn’t fully show her face, and poor Kotee ended up garnering unwanted headlines.
The pictures were of him and his new lady at a New Year’s Eve countdown up North. The fans for the most part were delighted and full of congratulations, but then came grumbling about the woman’s face never being fully visible. And one of the photos had the caption “No, she isn’t. She’s a woman.”
This was evidently in response to a viewer’s comment that he was trying to hide her face because she was in fact a he, or at least a gender in between. Others speculated that Kotee was deliberately “unveiling” his girlfriend little by little to build up crowd interest. If his aim was something along those lines, it annoyed one observer enough to snap at the comedian. “If you have a wife, just say so. Don’t make people curious as if you were a superstar like Jame Ji!”
And that in turn got Kotee upset enough to block the person who made the remark. “She’s not my wife. She’s my girlfriend,” said the comic, drained of his usual humour. “And I think I should respect her in the same way I respect my mum! If you’re not happy following me, please just go!”
Presumably there’ll be more about this as the year unwinds – and hopefully some proper portraits of the lady in question.

According to search data at Google, Thais tracked former transportation minister Chadchart Sittipunt more than any other male in 2014. That’s not much of a surprise because he was the subject of a lot of funny pictures after being dubbed “the strongest man alive”. The mock-ups ensured that Chadchart was more interesting to the common folk than even Prayut Chan-o-cha, that guy that took over the country last May.
The third-most-searched man was a foreigner, the late great Robin Williams, but then Thais got back to Thais. We loved to track Nation TV host Kanok Ratwongsakul (due to a scandal that engulfed him last year) and Chuwit Kamolvisith (the quasi-politician who’s always worth looking up online just to see what he’s nattering about lately).
Among the women, actress Janie Thienphosuvan managed to be only the second-most-searched lady despite the hair-raising termination of her marriage. Top honours instead went to luk thung entertainer Yinglee Srijumpol, who earned the nickname “the million-baht singer” when her song “Kor Jai Laek Ber Tor” staged a coup on the music charts. Yinglee’s subsequent displays of gratitude toward her parents and the song’s composer surely helped her Google rankings.
In third spot was Focus Jeerakul, thanks to revelations about her romance with fellow actor Tanin “Bomb” Manoonsilp. Fourth was Nicharee “Wawwa” Chokprajakchat, publicly upbraided by TV producers for “lacking discipline” on the set.
And then came another Hollywood star of interest to Thais, Jennifer Lawrence. Soopsip chooses to believe this was due to her popularity via “The Hunger Games” sequel, and not those nude photos that somehow leaked onto the Net.
