Petch abducts Pinky, but she's tickled to tears

The press was on hand and had Pinky in (happy) tears following the morning Muslim ceremony at the Clove Pattaya condominium. The reception was held at the Dusit Thani Pattaya. 

The marriage puts an end to the all the gossip about Pinky being the contentious “third wheel” in the marriage of Sanchai Engtrakul and Thanyares Engtrakul, and also to her drought of romantic relationships with anyone else. 

But will it also end Pinky’s relationship with show business? Certainly her ambition to have a baby soon will put any such considerations on hold. (Petch’s 38 and she’s 10 years younger.) But no, they told reporters, she’s not pregnant yet. And, yes, he’d prefer that she give up acting. “I don’t want people to see Pinky as a ‘product’ anymore,” Petch said. “I’d like her to have a baby first, but after that I’ll leave it up to her.”

Immediate plans also include a honeymoon in France that they’re stretching out to 45 days. They’ll have a second reception for about 40 friends there and want to get some “post-wedding photos” taken before returning home – “home” being his Bt100-million mansion. 

Pinky’s tears came, by the way, while she was thanking her new hubby for such a terrific wedding. Addressing her fans via the press, she said, “You guys will see me less, but you can follow me on Instagram.” That is kind of sad, come to think of it. 

 

As luck would have it

Here’s more incentive to keep plugging away at those lotteries. Jiratchaya Klongkarn has caused a sensation in Britain by pocketing a million pounds in a game called “The 49’s”, run by bookie agency Ladbrokes.

The Daily Mirror played it big because the huge win cost the 29-year-old student at the University of Chester a mere two pounds. “University of Chester student becomes millionaire after scooping jackpot”, the Chester Chronicle whooped. 

Thai news media quickly picked up the story when it broke on Thursday, duly relaying the fact that Jiratchaya’s ticket had all six matching numbers in one of the game’s twice-daily draws. 

“I picked 8 and 12 as my lucky numbers and the rest at random,” she told the Mirror, her birthday being 8/12 – August 12. She described her current location as extraterrestrial – “over the moon”, in the local tongue. 

“It still doesn’t feel real,” Jiratchaya said. “I’ve barely slept. I had some bad luck earlier in the year, but this has made up for it.” She plans to split the winnings among her family, mainly with her parents. 

Adding to the lustre of the occasion is the fact that Jiratchaya is the first woman to have won a million pounds in Ladbrokes long history. And there are only 15 Ladbrokes millionaires of either gender. 

This was the betting shop’s second million-pound payoff within a year. But the last big winner – someone in Bournemouth, scoring in December 2013 – paid a hefty four pounds for the chance, twice as much as Jiratchaya spent.
