“Madame Pang” Nualphan Lamsam, president of the Football Association of Thailand, extended her gratitude to the staff, coaches, and players of the Thai national futsal team for bringing joy to the Thai people after advancing to the championship round. She also pledged a bonus of 3 million baht if they succeed in defeating Iran and clinching their first-ever Asian championship.

Thailand have advanced to the championship round for the first time in 12 years, following their last appearance in 2012. Prior to this achievement, their best performances were securing runner-up titles twice in 2008 and 2012. Meanwhile, Iran are aiming for their 13th championship title.

Madame Pang said she has had the opportunity to witness and support the Thai futsal team since their first match. She noted the determination and dedication of everyone involved. Despite being the host nation, she emphasised that futsal at this level is not easy because of the increased competitiveness among nations. Therefore, she commended the team for their success in reaching the championship round for the first time in 12 years, attributing it to the hard work of the staff.

She highlighted the joy it brings to the Thai people and praised the team's admirable spirit displayed throughout the quarterfinals and semifinals. She said she avoided using the term "cheat the death”, but rather credited their comeback to their belief and unity with the fans in the arena.

"Iran have been the No 1 futsal team in Asia for a long time. We've lost to them before in the championship round back in 2008, but that's in the past. I believe that with the current mindset, spirit within the team, and the overwhelming support from the fans, we can achieve anything," Madame Pang said.

"As the president of the association, I have talked with the entire committee and pledged a bonus of 3 million baht if we clinch our first-ever Asian championship. This additional incentive is aimed at boosting the morale of every team member.

“I hope that together, we can achieve our dreams and surpass all obstacles. I urge all Thai football fans nationwide to continue supporting us, because we are just one step away from our goal," Madame Pang concluded.

Miguel Rodriguez, the coach of the Thai national futsal team, acknowledged that facing Iran is a significant challenge. He said, "For Iran, they are the kings of Asia, a top-five team not just in Asia but globally. Nevertheless, as the hosts, we aim to conclude this tournament by defeating Iran and becoming champions.

“Our games against Iraq and Tajikistan have shown that we've been able to win because of the fans who come to cheer us on, serving as a crucial force during tough times. We hope this match will be the same."

He also commented on how even Iran are different now compared with before. "This time, it's not easy for them to defeat any team like they used to. Now, every team has developed and become closely matched."
