PM takes a day off to recover from exhaustion
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra announced she would be taking time out from her duties on Thursday due to exhaustion and hoarseness.
Her voice was scratchy and her exhaustion noticeable when she attended the award ceremony for local organisations with good management practices at Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre in Bangkok’s Lak Si district on Wednesday.
The PM told the press that she felt ill in the morning and would be seeing a doctor for an injection. She added that she would evaluate her symptoms before deciding whether to continue working. She later announced that she would not be attending today’s engagement at the Finance Ministry or the meeting to prepare for the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion Summit in China.
Asked about Pheu Thai Party’s involvement in the case of a “guardian angel” for the alleged pyramid scheme operator iCon Group, she said it is currently under investigation.
Paetongtarn updated her symptoms on her Instagram “ingshin 21” at 4.45pm, with an image of saline drip in her arm and the message “Receiving an injection before going back home”.
The PM’s older sister, Pintongta Shinawatra, posted on her Instagram “aimpintongta” at 7.45pm, with an image of Paetongtarn receiving an injection and the message “Strong PM should take a break”.
