China closes all border gates to Wa Region, Halting cargo imports
According to news from the Wa Voice Network, a news agency based in the Wa region, China has reportedly suspended all cargo imports at all Wa border gates.
Officials from the United Wa State Party (UWSP), which governs the Wa autonomous region, confirmed to Wa Voice Network that China has blocked all cargo imports at the border gates leading into Wa territory.
On October 22, China initially restricted imports at the Muse-Kyalgaung Gate and the Mongla-Tarlot Gate. Then, on October 24, it extended the closure to all border gates between China and the Wa region.
A political official in Panghsang confirmed that China has blocked cargo imports at all border gates leading into the Wa autonomous region. This restriction includes essential goods such as fuel, construction materials, and electrical equipment.
The border gates remain open only for the movement of people and vegetables, with cargo transport remaining suspended.
Additionally, it is reported that China has gradually closed border gates controlled by the MNDAA in the Mongla area. Moreover, the Namtit (Mankhar) Gate on the China-Wa border has been closed since August to enforce the trade blockade on the Wa, Kokang, and Ta'ang autonomous regions.
Currently, China has indefinitely halted cargo imports at major border crossings, including the Namtit (Mankhar) Gate, Mone Gate, Sawfa Gate, and all gates along the Mongla border.
After blocking cargo imports at all China-Wa border gates, the UWSP issued a warning on October 25, urging residents not to engage in unnecessary price gouging on goods and to avoid spreading misinformation about price inflation.
