No shortage of vaccines, stocks awaiting DDC approval: Anutin

No shortage of vaccines, stocks awaiting DDC approval: Anutin

Thailand still has sufficient Covid-19 vaccines in stock, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul told Inside Thailand TV programme on Monday.

He explained that once the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration receives approval from the Department of Disease Control and other related agencies, the centre would inform the Public Health Ministry the locations where the vaccines must be delivered.

He reiterated that Bangkok would receive a total of 2.5 million doses in June, of which 500,000 doses would be delivered to universities, 1 million doses to social security members and another 1 million doses to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

"The BMA received 500,000 doses of vaccines from the Department of Disease Control on June 7, and the BMA will receive another 500,000 doses by this week," he said, confirming that the country currently has over 6 million doses of vaccines.

Responding to many hospitals postponing their vaccination drive, he said they may not have contacted the BMA before posting Facebook messages.

"The fact is all agencies are working together, while the ministry would deliver vaccines once it receives requests from them," he said, adding that leaders of each vaccination station are important for vaccine management.

He added that another 2.5 million doses of vaccines would be delivered to Thailand in the later part of this week -- 1 million doses of Sinovac and 1.5 million doses of AstraZeneca.
