Declining trend seen as 89 new Covid-19 cases reported

Samut Sakhon had 31 cases of the 59 exposed to the disease while visiting high-risk areas, followed by 11 cases in Tak, 9 in Pathum Thani, six in Nakhon Pathom, one each in Ayutthaya and Ang Thong,

Meanwhile, proactive testing led to the discovery of 14 cases, nine of them in Pathum Thani, Samut Sakhon (2), Tak (2), and Nonthaburi (1)

In Pathum Thani, 13,293 have been screened and 422 found to be infected, accounting for a 3.17 per cent positive rate. The transmission areas still cover nine provinces with most found in the outbreak area.

Of the overseas travellers found infected in quarantine centres, 10 were Thais returning from the United States, United Kingdom, Qatar, Armenia, as well as an Indian, a British, an American, a Pakistani, a Portuguese and a Latvian from their respective countries.

Meanwhile, 76 patients have recovered and been discharged.

As of Monday, the number of confirmed cases in Thailand had risen to 25,504. Of these, 22,792 had been contracted locally, including 14,407 who were found via proactive testing, while 2,712 were returnees. So far, 24,361 have recovered and been discharged, 1,060 patients are still in hospitals and 83 have died.

According to Worldometer, as of 10am on Monday, the number of confirmed cases globally had risen to 111.96 million (up by 312,711), 87.32 million have recovered, 22.15 million are active cases (93,916 in severe condition) and 2.48 million have died (up by 6,293).

Thailand ranks 114th on the global list of most cases, which is topped by the US with 28.76 million, followed by India 11 million, Brazil 10.17 million, Russia 4.16 million and the United Kingdom 4.11 million.
