Narcotics Suppression Bureau chief Pol Lt Gen Chinnapat Sarasin said his officers have asked for more information after the Australian Border Force seized more than 600 litres of meth on Friday.
The meth was exported in August and Thai police are now hunting for the culprit who arranged the shipment in Thailand. Chinnapat said investigators were working on the theory that the drug consignment was sent through a private parcel company by boat.
They also want to know whether the meth was transformed into liquid form before it was shipped, since Thailand has previously only witnessed the drug in crystal form.
The discovery of the liquid meth shipment comes after Bangkok police last month nabbed a man preparing to deliver heroin hidden in engine parts to Taiwan.
Two people have been arrested in Western Sydney and an estimated 600 litres of liquid meth concealed inside cans of coconut milk has been seized. More information: https://t.co/7Q53z40LbF pic.twitter.com/m6UuZXAJpP
