Covid-19 would be hard to contain, as a second wave of the outbreak is happening even in countries that seemed to have it under control, Chulalongkorn University expert virologist Dr Yong Poovorawan said on his personal social media.

n his post on Friday (August 7), the doctor mentioned Vietnam. He said that the country had acknowledged the second wave when patients with severe symptoms visited hospitals.
This showed that there would be other patients in public spaces, with and without symptoms, he said, adding that some patients have spread the virus in the hospitals.
It would be hard for Vietnam to deal with this situation, he added.
The doctor said that it was only in Thailand and New Zealand that the second wave had not happened in public space. He mentioned that around 0.5 per cent was the average of infected persons returning from overseas.
The doctor said the government should strictly monitor borders and natural channels, in order to prevent the virus spreading from illegal migrants or returnees.
