Covid-19 situation stable with six new cases reported

(Update) Thailand maintained its trend of single-digit new cases as six more people tested positive for Covid-19 while there were no deaths over a 24-hour period, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Monday (May 11).

The total number of Covid-19 patients increased to 3,015, of whom 2,796 have recovered and been discharged and 163 are being treated in hospitals. The death toll remains at 56.

Of the six new cases, one is a six-year-old boy in Narathiwat.
The other four are in Phuket – a man aged 19, a male police officer aged 29, a 23-year-old female office worker, and another woman, 29.
The sixth case is a 22-year-old Yala man.He was in close contact with an infected person who had returned from Malaysia. The group with the highest risk remains those who are 20-29 years old, he noted.
Thailand has reported single-digit new cases daily for several days in a row and the government has started to ease some of the lockdown restrictions.
